One of the most important ways cancer researchers share the results of their work is by publishing articles in scientific journals. Unfortunately, much of the information shared in these scientific journals is not easily available to people in the general population. Our Science Education section (see below) will provide an opportunity for you to read some of the current literature on breast cancer and to ask questions about what you read.

bullblue.gif (1007 bytes) HOW TO READ AN ARTICLE is a good place to start. This will give you ideas about what to look for in scientific articles while you are reading.
bullblue.gif (1007 bytes) TOPICS has a list of topics and articles from the breast cancer scientific literature. If you would like a copy of the article, click on the citation and you will be linked to a full-text version of the article in the online journal. Or, if you prefer, ask for a copy to be mailed to you by using the ASK A QUESTION button. Or, if you have access to a medical library, you will be able to find most journals there.
bullblue.gif (1007 bytes) After you choose a topic and read the article, visit QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS to help guide you through the learning process. Using these tools will help you pick out important information from the article.
bullblue.gif (1007 bytes) Please use the ASK A QUESTION button if you have questions about the article you read. We’ll post your question (anonymously if you prefer) and the answer from a UNC breast cancer researcher on this Web site.
