This retreat was held at Camp Chestnut Ridge in Efland, NC, and was facilitated by
Christiane Corbat, world-renowned artist and art therapist. BCCNC showcased these
breastplates at the Body & Soul symposium (sponsored by Duke Comprehensive Cancer
Center and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center) on October 9th in Chapel Hill and
on October 22nd in Fayetteville for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

With funds from the US Women’s Open, the Coalition has begun work on a project to celebrate the diverse face of breast cancer survivorship in North Carolina. Women from across the state are being interviewed and their personal stories of life after breast cancer are being collected to include in a photo-essay display.
